Located to the South of Ottawa, outside the Greenbelt, the old Rideau Township ( now part of the City of Ottawa) was comprised of the villages of Manotick, Greely, Osgoode, Metcalfe and surrounding countryside. Further out you have such villages as Merrickville, Chesterville, Winchester and Morewood. These villages offer country-style living about 40 to 55 minutes from downtown. In recent years, some of those Villages have into sought after Retirement Communities and have undergone significant commercial development and housing development including everything from Condominium, bungalow communities, golf type communities, and retirement homes.
